In Tracer Season 2 Episode 6, The Jaesong Construction case is the first step in taking down Director In. Dong-Joo finds out that Director Jo is threatening the informant, and with Do-hoon’s help, they convince the informant’s daughter to testify. This accuses Director Jo of misconduct and officially gets him cut off by Director In.
Since the director of Jaesong Construction pulled a stunt that tipped the balance in favor of CFO Ryu, he now has the upper hand in negotiations with his half-brother, CEO Ryu Do-Hyung. CFO Ryu’s ultimate goal is to get revenge on their father and take over PQ Group, so he strikes a deal with Jaesong Construction. CFO Ryu needs at least three percent more of the stocks to complete a takeover, which is where Jaesong Construction comes in.
Jaesong Construction pushes back the due date of their loans for a couple of days and comes up with a solution to avoid bankruptcy. This will give CFO Ryu the time he needs to take over PQ Group.
Oh, Young agrees to let them hold a general meeting, but when the day comes, he suddenly stops them. According to their investigation, one of the directors at Jaesong Construction received bribes from PQ Group. Oh, Young reveals the higher-ups’ greedy plans to hand over Jaesong Construction’s stocks of PQ Holdings to CFO Ryu.
With everything suddenly coming to a screeching halt, Vice Commissioner Min deals the final blow – leaving Department Five no choice but to lift the levy.
